About Rouge Valley Counselling
Laurie de Oliveira, MSW, RSW
Hi, I’m Laurie.
I’m a registered social worker based in Toronto with over 14 years of experience in health and mental health. I provide individual counselling to children, adolescents, and adults, and I’m committed to creating a space where you feel safe, supported, and genuinely heard.
I’ve spent more than a decade working in hospital settings, supporting individuals and families in maternal and child health, trauma, and brain injury. Over the years, I’ve worked with people navigating depression, anxiety, PTSD and complex trauma, self-harm, substance use, grief, health crises, and major life transitions such as parenting, separation, and shifts in identity or family roles.
My approach is grounded in evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Motivational Interviewing, and Narrative Therapy. I don’t believe therapy is one-size-fits-all, so I tailor our work together to meet your unique needs, strengths, and goals.
I’m registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and am a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers and EMDR International Association (EMDRIA).
At the heart of my work is a deep respect for your story. I’m passionate about helping people make sense of their experiences, build resilience, and move toward healing in a way that feels meaningful and sustainable.
